Muzzle brake/compensators need a fairly hot load to feed enough muzzle blast to make the muzzle brake effective. Muzzle devices intensify the muzzle blast and report of the gunshot. Even when I broke down the setup and then reassembled it as a test, I was able to observe the same amount of muzzle rise reduction for the same devices with the same ammunition. All of these things keep a Glock working even when dipped in muck. Take a close look at the top Glock competition shooters’ guns, and inevitably you will see more than a few ZEV parts on the gun.

Because the Glock is so easy to work on, I was able to play around with omitting and swapping out upgrades to see that the ZEV safety did decrease trigger pull and that the addition of the ZEV firing pin did improve the trigger feel beyond just upgrading the trigger unit. That said, all that is required to work on your Glock is a simple 1/8" punch like the Ameriglo Glock Tool I used, a small hammer to tap out stubborn pins, and maybe a front sight tool and hex wrench if you are swapping out sights. Overall this gun comes chock full of upgrades, with even the striker plate replaced with a hex design aluminum one. We shot a pretty even heat at 7, 15 & 25yds. He decided he was going to use some Winnie Elites so I switched over to the G20 with some HPR 180TMJ’s. I whipped him at 7, laid the smack down at 15 and killed him at 25. Of course the excuses started flying about how he had factory sights and mine was modified. When it came time to reload, the oversized magazine release was right there for easy access - so much better than the smaller stock release on the Glock. Don’t forget to check your local, state, and federal laws to make sure your upgraded Glock is still on the right side of the line.

For my needs, the Tactical Fulcrum trigger kit was the right choice and still delivered a significantly superior trigger compared to a box stock Glock, but provided a non-adjustable trigger shoe. As a shooter and lover of most things Glock, I was intrigued by the DIY transformation process from a stock Glock to a competition Glock in order to make it faster, smoother, and a better shooter. If considering similar modifications to your Glock, save yourself some time and consider for a gun with the work already done. My first time shooting, I was able to perform the one-hole drill to near perfection at 7-yards. At 15-yards I made tight half-inch groups while keeping an upbeat split cadence of 0.20 to 0.25 seconds. And when it comes to single stacks, like the Glock 43, there is no equivalent that would give you the same capacity, while keeping the same size.
